School Founder
Fawzia Hamad Al-Sultan Al-Essa, God Rest Her Soul, was a woman with a vision. Born in Kuwait in 1945, she graduated from the American University of Beirut in 1968 with a degree in Philosophy.

In 1977, Fawzia had the enlightened idea of establishing a bilingual school in Kuwait. She was greatly supported in this major endeavor by the fourteen women founding team. An educator at heart and an able administrator, Fawzia founded the school and managed its operations until her untimely death in January 1986. Al-Bayan asserts its status as the pioneer of bilingual education in Kuwait and in the region.

To adopt this unique system in 1977 reveals Fawzia's clear and courageous vision. She understood the importance of creating an educational bridge between the progress of the West and the traditional values of the Arab culture. Aware of the need for a concrete educational program to incarnate her vision, she worked at creating a bilingual curriculum that prepared children for the world of today and the challenges of tomorrow, a curriculum that realized a happy marriage between the "Modern" and the "Traditional."

English and Arabic programs of study support the school concept.
