Founded in 1977, Al-Bayan Bilingual School is:
The Bilingual program means that the mastery of both languages Arabic and English is developed to the highest academic standard through a demanding curriculum. Learning through the medium of two languages, Arabic and English, our students come to appreciate the traditions of the past, meet the future challenges of their own culture and that of others, while engaging in the process of promoting true international understanding.
The PreSchool program is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education. Children spend equal time in Arabic and English.
The English core program utilizes the Ontario English Language Arts curriculum throughout the school. Arabic subjects follow the Kuwait Ministry of Education curriculum, with many supplementary materials added.

All subjects are taught in English, except Arabic, Islamic and Social Studies.
PE and Music can be in Arabic and/or in English.
BBS does not offer Arabic as a Second Language.
Al-Bayan Bilingual School (BBS) achieved accreditation in 1989, thus it was the first school in the region to be accredited by three separate organizations:
BBS is also a member of Near East South Asia Council of Overseas Schools (NESA), The College Board (which administers AP exams and courses, among other things), and the National Honors Society (NHS), which give recognition to students with high academic records, good character, leadership skills, and commitment to their community.
BBS has over 320 full time faculty members representing 25 nationalities who are recruited both locally and overseas. Well qualified, experienced English subject teaching staff are predominantly recruited from the US, Canada, UK, South Africa, Australia, Jamaica and Eastern Europe. Arabic administrators, faculty and staff are recruited from Kuwait and the Middle East. Faculty members are selected for their proven skills and experience in teaching. The faculty at BBS, which represents diverse backgrounds and teaching styles, is committed to guiding the intellectual and personal growth of our students. Teachers are uniquely sensitive to the needs of our young people. Rapport is developed in the classroom and in a variety of extracurricular and sports activities where our teachers give of their time to help enrich the non-academic side of the students’ lives.
Both BBS and BIS fall under the umbrella of one owner company “FAWSEC Educational Company”. However, the major difference between both schools is the curriculum. The Arabic subject in BBS is compulsory and the Social Studies course is also taught in Arabic, and the student must pass the Arabic language entrance exam in order to be able to enroll at the school. As for BIS, the admissions test is in English and Math only and they have a non-Arabic speaking program (AFL). In addition, the number of students in BIS classes is less than in BBS, with a maximum of 18 students in each class. It is also worth mentioning that BIS has a higher diversity rate in its student population.
The maximum number of students in each class is 25.
There are 8 sections in each grade level.
The total number of students is about 2,500.
Yes, the school is mixed, except for PE classes starting from Grade 6.
In PS and ES our teachers and staff members look forward to meeting the parents and their children during the Student Orientation Day. It is a great opportunity for the parent and the child to meet the teacher, see the classroom, and to begin to feel comfortable at school. Teachers will introduce themselves to the parent and welcome the child to the classroom to help them feel safe, happy and secure in their new learning environment. Children can enjoy exploring their new classroom at various centers supervised by the teacher assistants, allowing parents time to become acquainted with the student’s daily routine and schedule.
The Learning Support department at BBS seeks to support all students and ensure that all students have access to quality instruction, intervention and support, so that they experience success in the learning environment.
Yes, Teachers at BBS are available to give extra help to students on Sundays, Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:30 PM to 2:50 PM (ES)
2:40 PM to 3:00 PM (MS and HS)

Homework is a necessary part of each student’s educational program and is also a means of strengthening skills and reinforcing comprehension gained in the classroom. Weekly homework schedules are posted on Skoolee each week. The schedules include all of the homework for the coming week, as well as announced quizzes and tests. Project due dates and general reminders are also included. Parents should regularly check with their children to make sure that homework assignments are being completed and that students have a quiet and suitable spot at home in which to study. Homework will be assigned in all classes during the courses of a week, typically requiring the following time commitments. Homework is not given during a major long holiday. No tests or quizzes will be scheduled the day after a major long holiday.
Report cards are distributed to parents three times a year.
For preschool students, reports are received as follows:

There will be no formal interviews with PreK children. However, NEW families and their children will be invited to book a date for a Meet & Greet session as a part of the enrollment process. This is an important step to be considered for admissions. The sessions are conducted weekly during February each year and may continue depending on placement availability. Each session lasts approximately 30 minutes.
According to the BBS Admissions Policy, we will be accepting students conditionally based on the Admissions priorities and the number of seats available.
KG1 and KG2 Interviews:
