                                                                                                                                      The academic year is broken into two semesters, with report cards issued at the end of each semester and one progress
                                                                                                                                      report during the first semester. There is an established criterion for grading in each subject. Various forms of diagnostic,
                                                                                                                                      formative  and  summative  assessments  are  encouraged  from  our  teachers,  and  we  use  MAP  (Measure  of  Academic
                                                                                                                                      Progress) testing to benchmark progress. Teachers complete running records a minimum of twice yearly to determine
                                                                                                                                      reading level. Common assessments are also expected each quarter, with the grade level team designing them together.


                                                                                                                                      After School Activity Program
                                                                                                                                      The after school program is designed to offer various extra-curricular activities of a less academic nature. These are in
                                                                                                                                      the form of clubs, which are elective in nature. These may include recreational sports, arts and crafts, computer, drama,
                                                                                                                                      and cooking. Students wishing to sign up for these clubs must pay a nominal fee.

                                                                                                                                      The Media Center offers a large collection of Arabic and English books, as well as a variety of resources to support the
                                                                                                                                      bilingual curriculum. We also have a separate, bilingual Reading Hub. The ES Reading Hub is an alternative learning space
          At Al-Bayan Bilingual School, our elementary division serves over 950 students from Grades 1 to 5. We offer a rigorous,
          student-centered program that focuses on differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners. Our core     students will visit, in addition to library lessons.

          critical thinking and problem-solving, equipping our students to become lifelong learners and responsible global citizens.
                                                                                                                                      Students in grade 1-5 will receive scheduled sessions on Protect Ed KidProof’s program on children’s rights and safety.

          •   Monthly Newsletter: We share important updates, events, and school news with our families to keep them informed
             and engaged.
          •   Weekly Planner: Grade-level heads distribute weekly planners outlining curriculum objectives, special events, and
             upcoming activities.
