We are using the Ontario Language Curriculum; it is supported by a wide variety of resources. Readers’ Workshop is the
thrust of the program and we have an extensive library of leveled readers.

          Assessments

Students follow a core curriculum in all subjects. The academic year is broken into two semesters, with report cards
issued at the end of each semester and one progress report during the first semester. There is an established criterion
for grading in each subject. Various forms of diagnostic, formative and summative assessments are encouraged from our
teachers, and we use MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) testing to benchmark progress. Teachers complete running
records a minimum of twice yearly to determine reading level. Common assessments are also expected each quarter,
with the grade level team designing them together. Students are encouraged to attend After-School Help sessions twice
          weekly.
