What is the role of the Learning Support Specialist - LSS?

The LSS’s role is to provide support through a personalized learning plan geared to each student based on their needs, as identified by the Child Study Team (CST).

  • Formal Intervention Plan - FIP
  • Support Plan - SP
  • Individualized Education Plan - IEP

Who are the members of the Child Study Team - CST?

  • The Parent
  • The Administrator(s)
  • The School Counselor
  • The Learning Support Specialist
  • The Student’s Teachers
  • The Educational Psychologist, if needed
  • The Dean of Students, if needed

Who do we support?

The LSS provides support services to students who have been identified through the referral process.

If you have any questions or wish to initiate the the referral process,
please contact your child’s counselor

  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Arabic

  • Attention related issues
  • Executive functioning

When and where do we provide support?

PreSchool

  • When: In-class and pull-out support at a predetermined time as agreed upon by the CST
  • Where: PS LSS Classroom

PreSchool

  • When: Pull-out support during specials as agreed upon by the CST
  • Where: ES LSS Classroom

Middle School

  • When: Pull-out support during designated elective courses as predetermined by the CST
  • Where: MS LSS Classroom

High School

  • When: Pull-out support during designated elective courses as predetermined by the CST
  • Where: HS LSS Classroom
