National Honor Society

The National Honor Society chapter of Al-Bayan is a duly chartered and affiliated chapter of this prestigious organization. Membership is open to those students who meet the required standards in four areas of evaluation: scholarship, service, leadership, and character.

Students in grades 10, 11, and 12 are eligible for membership. For the scholarship criterion, a student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale. Each fall, those students who meet this criterion are invited to complete a Candidate Form that provides the faculty council with information regarding the candidate’s leadership and service.

Chapter obligations for selected students include:

  • Maintaining a 3.5 GPA
  • Attending scheduled meetings
  • Participating in all NHS activities
  • Completing a minimum of 10 hours of service
  • Leading 2 student led activities per year
  • Adhering to NHS bylaws and code of conduct.

Selection Of Members

• The selection of members to this chapter shall be by a majority vote of the faculty council, which consists of five faculty members appointed by the principal. The chapter advisor shall be the sixth, non-voting, exofficio member of the faculty council.
